Abandoned LA is a strangely inviting place. Architecture is on full display. Roads function as they were meant to, getting you from point A to B without obstacle, as sparsely populated as the miniature highways of GM’s 1939 Worlds of Tomorrow exhibit. Ah, this is how it’s supposed to work! Everyone is friendly. It’s as if the city was meant for the population of Boise.
I’ve captured a moment in time that I fear it will never be the same. So many of the small businesses shown in the film won’t make it and we will all suffer the loss. It’s as if the internet-ization of retail that was already challenging brick and mortar has been supercharged and we’ve been catapulted years into the future.
