Chris Morris is a contributing writer at Variety. He was music editor of The Hollywood Reporter and senior writer for Billboard, and a DJ at the legendary Los Angeles station Indie 103.1 and at Scion Radio. Morris was also the longtime music critic at Los Angeles CityBeat and the Los Angeles Reader. His book Los Lobos: Dream in Blue, a critical biography of the East Los Angeles band, was published in 2015. Together Through Life, a personal look at Bob Dylan’s recordings, was published by ROTHCO Press in 2016. He contributed a chapter to Under the Big Black Sun, written and edited by John Doe of X and Tom DeSavia, and appeared on its Grammy-nominated companion audio book. He received a 2005 Grammy Award nomination for his notes for Rhino Records’ punk rock boxed set No Thanks: The ‘70s Punk Rebellion.
