Jerry: The Movie

In the summer of 1987, filmmaker Malcolm Leo sat down with Grateful Dead founding member and cultural hero Jerry Garcia. At the height of his success and in the midst of his happiest days, Jerry Garcia revelaed his heartfelt feelings about his life, the Grateful Dead and much more. Captured on 16mm film by Russell Carpenter, the Cinematographer of Titanic, the interview presents Garcia at his most unguarded. He is brilliant, charming, joyful and free. It’s Jerry Garcia as you have never seen him before, and this footage now forms the basis for a new documentary.
Filmmaker Leo and his collaborators have launched a Kickstarter to make Jerry: The Movie, an unprecedented film about the life and times of Jerry Garcia. They need to raise $400,000 by December 23, 2012. Watch their video below, then visit their Kickstarter page and show them how grateful you can be.
