The Judges:
Clare MacQueen is founding editor of two literary journals, MacQueen’s Quinterly and KYSO Flash. She edited, designed, and published 20 books via KYSO Flash Press. Her own fiction, nonfiction, and poetry appear in Bricolage, Firstdraft, New Flash Fiction Review, and elsewhere; and her essays, in Best New Writing 2007 and Winter Tales II: Women on the Art of Aging.
As webmaster for Serving House Journal, MacQueen published 18 issues from 2010 to 2018. She also co-edited Steve Kowit: This Unspeakably Marvelous Life (Serving House Books, 2015), and served as a judge for the 2017 Steve Kowit Poetry Prize.
Mariano Zaro is the author of six books of poetry, most recentlty Decoding Sparrows (What Books, Los Angeles) and Padre Tierra (Olifante, Zaragoza, Spain). His poems and short stories have been included in anthologies and literary journals in Spain, Mexico and the United States.
His translations include Buda en llamas by Tony Barnstone and Cómo escribir una cancion de amor by Sholeh Wolpé. Since 2010, he has been hosting a series of video-interviews with prominent American poets as part of the literary project Poetry.LA. He is a professor of Spanish at Rio Hondo Community College (Whittier, California).
Alexis Rhone Fancher is published in Best American Poetry, Rattle, Hobart, Verse Daily, Plume, Tinderbox, Cleaver, Diode, The American Journal of Poetry, Spillway, Nashville Review, Poetry East, and elsewhere. She’s authored six poetry collections, most recently, Junkie Wife (Moon Tide Press, 2018), and The Dead Kid Poems (KYSO Flash Press, 2019). EROTIC: New & Selected (NYQ Books) dropped in March, 2021. Her photographs are featured worldwide including the covers of Witness, and The Pedestal Magazine. A multiple Pushcart Prize and Best of the Net nominee, Alexis is poetry editor of Cultural Daily since 2012.
