Down Feather Aloft
This bit of fluff
blown from an
abandoned nest,
soared over one
property to the next,
landed in gardener’s
hair—unseen until
reflected in mirror,
pulled off, admired,
placed atop dresser,
cuffed onto floor by
half-grown kitten,
batted about, lost under
bed, swept up, placed
in trash, delivered to landfill,
released, lifted by gusts
of wind, extending
its docile journey.
