Rhea Kaushik: “Honey”

honey

to want
is to gaze with reverence upon
to behold

to want this
is to live
with the left side                  of my chest cracked open
                  and bleeding
to circle each other in a dance

eternal

to want you
is to run the flat of my tongue up the curve of your hips
and
moan as i taste honey
as hands in my hair
dishevel
the braids i was to wear scattering
                                    petals
                                                      down
                                                                        the
                                                      aisle
a flower girl

pepper icy kisses
down
my neck
you have weathered my hands like water
and your touch
burns
leaves grooves into me
only your hands can slide
along
                  my skin

ease your knife into my body
i lick my tears off the edge as you laugh unaware
a scarlet smile
i think i’m afraid
to                   want you
to want                   you
suffering and tempest war
as you touch your forehead to mine
