Energy Is Neither Created Nor Destroyed

I have witnessed this before
the lingering of the energy of love
lifeforce transformed
signaling to those of us left behind
with whatever embodies communication
a song on the radio the perfect line in perfect
conversation at the perfect moment
Are you really gone
                                                     I won’t let you fall
I think of the friend who sees her brother
in the albino deer       It makes me feel crazy
but my heart knows
I remember the hummingbird that lingers
eye to eye
and always the most spectacular sun
the day after goodbye
as if their spirit sits between it and our eyes
removing the filter and noise
to reveal what’s real
Our old-man dog        Big Truck
gentle presence       long goodbye
For a full weekend we knew and then
the morning        a final walk
and the first cry without him
I have witnessed this before
the lingering energy of love
the magnolia tree in his favorite corner of the garden
never with a single bloom and yet
a single bloom within an hour of his
transformation
What must it take for them to give us
these moments
What must we say but thank you
