A new study by a leading United Kingdom based sports betting company has predicted there will be a thrilling three-way battle for the Premier League title this season.
The annual Premier League Points Spread Predictions by Spreadex offers football punters a data-fuelled analysis of the upcoming campaign.
They have forecast that Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City will engage in a season-long battle which could go down to the final game.
Liverpool are tipped to collect 77.5 – 79.5 points, while Arsenal and Man City are projected to pick up between 77 – 79 points. The full predictions are as follows:
- Liverpool: 77.5 – 79.5
- Arsenal: 77 – 79
- Manchester City: 77 – 79
- Chelsea: 65.5 – 67.5
- Newcastle United: 65 – 67
- Manchester United – 57 -59
- Aston Villa: 56.5 – 58.5
- Tottenham Hotspur – 55 – 57
- Brighton & Hove Albion: 53 – 55
- Bournemouth: 49 – 51
- Nottingham Forest: 47 – 49
- Everton: 46 – 48
- Crystal Palace: 45.5 – 47.5
- Fulham: 45.5 – 47.5
- West Ham United 45 – 47
- Brentford: 42.5 – 44.5
- Wolverhampton Wanderers – 40.5 – 42.5

- Burnley: 28 -30
- Sunderland: 24.5 – 26.5
Liverpool’s big-money money acquisition of Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen is expected to be the difference-maker in this season’s title race.
Wirtz has been a standout performer in the Bundesliga over the past couple of years and has been tipped to progress even further with the Reds.
However, Spreadex don’t believe the title race is a foregone conclusion, with Arsenal and Man City rated as genuine contenders in the battle to claim top spot.
The Gunners have added midfielder Martin Zubimendi to their squad and he should give them greater control in the centre of the park.
Man City have also been active in the transfer market, signing several top-class players during the winter and summer windows.
They could ultimately prove to be the biggest threat to Liverpool’s hopes of retaining the title, and could be the value bet to outperform their predicted points tally.
While Spreadex are predicting an epic title race will unfold this season, they have forecast that the relegation battle is a foregone conclusion.
The three promoted teams have been relegated in each of the past two seasons and the study is projecting the same scenario this time around.
Leeds United, Burnley and Sunderland will be desperate to avoid that fate, but Spreadex’s Josh Osgood has no doubts about the eventual outcome.
“Last season was a damp squib for bettors with the title and relegation places all decided long before the end of the season,” Osgood said.
“While this year’s title race should prove to be a much more exciting affair, the data predicts that the same can’t be said of the relegation battle.
“Once again, we expect the promoted sides to drop straight back down and the likes of Wolves, Brentford, West Ham and Everton to be untroubled by the prospect of Championship football.”
“Relegation battles going down to the wire on the final day of the season used to be part of the real pulling power for the Premier League, but that now appears to be a thing of the past.
“The established sides are getting richer and richer and those from the second tier simply can no longer compete.”
While the three newly-promoted sides face a tough task to stay afloat in the Premier League, it is not beyond the realms of possibility that at least one of them could buck the recent trend.
Brentford’s predicted 42.5 – 44.5points tally may have been overestimated given they have lost some key players and their manager this summer.
Leeds are perhaps best placed to capitalise given the resources at their disposal and they could be a good bet to retain their top flight status.
