My name is Genaro Perez, and I’m a first-generation Mexican American from Watts, California. Growing up where I did has shaped how I see the world and what I write about. My poetry is inspired by my culture, my community, and the real struggles people around me face. I like using my voice to speak on issues that matter and tell stories that aren’t always heard. As a high school senior, I’m focused on continuing to grow and make something meaningful out of my experiences.
