On this day, I remember

BJ, my big brother

In one photo of us as children, I’m captured looking at him instead of the camera, mesmerized by

The confidence in his smile, how light reflected his soul, he was the center of my world

Uniquely his own energy force of charisma, I remember his laugh cackling loudly without apology

And as we grew older, apart, he preferred Brian; the BJ I idolized as a child became obsessed chasing

Riches and success, seeking connection deeper than our human experience

Yet, it wasn’t while he was alive that he found it and now he’s gone, gone, gone
