Dante Mitchell was born in the summer of 1990, in sunny Inglewood, California. He grew up in a neighborhood littered with children of different ethnicities and learned to accept people based on their character. Child of Elena Garcia & Jeffrey Mitchell, Dante has four sisters. As a young child his mother passed away battling breast cancer and his father would land himself in prison several years later. He was fortunate enough to have a big family including friends for emotional support. One of these young woman happen to be the younger sibling of his deceased mother and her husband, Racarol and Larry McGee opened their Plano, Texas home to their niece Monique and her older brother Dante. When he wasn't in the Lone Star state he was in the Leimert Park district of South Los Angeles a place that became known as home. his grandmother raised him and his younger sister alone, in the Leimert Park area. While in high school an unfortunate basketball injury would force this former-jock to find another outlet to dispense his energy and passion. This is when his creative writing teacher "Mike the Poet" introduced him to poetry. Already a fan of literature Dante began to grow a passion for writing and found that he had a niche for putting together words that expressed his deepest-inner most thoughts. Since discovering his passion for writing Dante has done numerous poetry events, open mics, tours, and performances at universities, coffee shops, theaters, and other venues alike from California to as far as New York. He describes his writing as informative and thought provoking and aims to send a message of universal peace and brotherhood.
